TEDxMaastricht live in Darwin
I was introduced to TED a couple of years ago by a friend of mine, Brylee McVicar who moved up to Darwin from Melbourne. Since then, I spend an hour every fortnight watching talks that are really “ideas worth spreading“.
TEDx Maastricht is an independently organised TED event, being held on the 4th of April in the beautiful city of Maastricht, where I attended the Medicine 2.0 Conference and met Lucien Engelen. He sparked the idea of a simulcast in Darwin of the event. With the support of the Flinders Northern Territory Medical Program, we are able to host the simulcast on the grounds of the Royal Darwin Hospital.
“The Future of Health” is the chosen theme and the list of speakers for the event is remarkable. They are individuals who believe and fight for the betterment of humanity and the innovation of healthcare.
Whether you’re a health professional, a medical or nursing student, a youth worker or CEO of a non profit organization, a researcher or a health executive, you will find the speakers and their ideas during the 4 hour simulcast (5pm – 9pm) at the Royal Darwin Hospital Auditorium to be invigorating and able to generate a ‘think outside the box’ approach to our own health issues in the Territory.
What we need in the Territory is not just action, because there are many out there working hard to improve things here but we could do with a boost of fresh ideas that are “worth spreading” and transformed into policy and more action.
